Washing Machines
All machines are commercial-grade Huebsch washer-extractors — they spin out excess moisture at the end of the cycle, so your clothes spend less time in the dryer.
A typical everyday load (14kg wash + 24 min dry) costs around $12 all in — washing powder included.

Dryers
Because our washers extract most of the moisture before your load goes in the dryer, a typical dry takes just 20–35 minutes. Total wash + dry time: around 40–55 minutes.

What a visit costs
Machine prices are only half the answer. Here is what three common loads come to once the drying is paid for.

Drying is sold by the minute rather than as a fixed cycle, so those totals are estimates — you buy the minutes you need and stop when the load is dry. Washing powder is included in the wash price.
Is it cheaper than washing at home?
Per load, no — if you already own a machine, running it costs you water, power and detergent and not a great deal else, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What a laundromat sells is capacity and time.
A week of family washing at home
- 7–8kg domestic washer: 3–4 loads, run one after another
- Plus the drying — realistically most of a day
- Longer in winter, when nothing dries on the line
The same week at the Lounge
- The 27kg washer takes the whole lot in one go
- Hard spin means the dryer is done in about 20 minutes
- Roughly $19, and you're home inside the hour
Then there are the things a home machine simply cannot take — a king-size doona, a sleeping bag, a dog bed, or a car boot of wet towels after a weekend away. That is what the big machines are for, and it is usually cheaper than the dry cleaner. And if you do not have a machine at all — renting, between places, or yours has given up — the comparison is a lot simpler.

Questions about price
- What does a wash and dry actually cost?
- An everyday load — a 14kg wash plus about 24 minutes in a 13kg dryer — comes to around $12, washing powder included. A family's sheets and towels in the 18kg washer with 20 minutes in a 20kg dryer is about $16. A king-size doona, or a fortnight's washing done in one go in the 27kg machine, is about $19.
- Do I need coins or cash?
- No. Every machine takes card, contactless and QR payment, either at the 32-inch kiosk near the entrance or by scanning the code on the machine itself. Cash still works if you prefer it, and there is no surcharge on card.
- Is washing powder included in the price?
- Yes. Free concentrated powder is provided at every store and is already in the wash price, so there is nothing extra to buy. You are welcome to bring your own detergent or fabric softener if you prefer a particular brand or have sensitive skin — put it in the drawer compartments rather than straight into the drum.
- How do I know how many dryer minutes to buy?
- Dryers are sold by the minute: $1 buys 6 minutes on a 13kg machine or 4 minutes on a 20kg one. Because the washers spin most of the water out before the load reaches the dryer, most loads are dry in 18 to 24 minutes. Start with around 18 and add more if you need it — you are not locked into a fixed cycle.
- Are prices the same at every store?
- Yes. The 14kg, 18kg and 27kg washers and the 13kg and 20kg dryers cost the same at Armstrong Creek and St Albans, and will at Maiden Gully. Maiden Gully additionally has a combo washer and dryer set aside for pet bedding, blankets and towels, at $12 to wash and $1 per 3 minutes to dry.
